Original Hirbawi Inverted Keffiyeh

Abu Mohammad Hirbawi was searching for an old photo in a film strip and discovered a negative of a traditional black and white keffiyeh. Inspiration! He immediately sat down at his machine and designed an inverted version of the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh. Here is the result.

The traditional Palestinian scarf is known as Keffiyeh or Hatta. Local manufacturing of this symbol of the Palestinian struggle for freedom is sadly vanishing, with most keffiyehs sold around the world – and even in Palestine – being made in China or India. Today, only one factory remains in Palestine: The Hirbawi family in Hebron continues to weave the only original keffiyeh made in Palestine.
