Hajeh is a term of endearment commonly used in Arabic to refer to an older woman, often a grandmother, a symbol of wisdom, love, and care. While it traditionally also refers to a woman who has completed the pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj), in this context, it represents a nurturing figure deeply connected to the land of Palestine.
In this drawing, the woman is not merely holding or embracing; she is making a prayer, a gesture that symbolizes how Palestine is embedded in our daily prayers. It’s a reflection of how the land is ever-present in our thoughts, even when we’re physically far from it. This image portrays love, devotion, and an unbreakable connection to Palestine, showing that the land, its people, and its struggles are always on our minds.
The Arabic text below reads “Free Palestine,” reinforcing the message of resilience and the ongoing fight for freedom and justice.
